Alexis Rojas
Born in Huehuetenango, Guatemala, in 1961, Rojas is a draftsman, self-taught painter, and philosopher. He challenges traditional styles and transports us to scenes of his life and that of the books he reads.
He has lived and exhibited his work in Asia, Europe, and North America. He has had many exhibitions in Guatemala, where he has resided in his hometown, Huehuetenango, since 2018.
Rojas’ work is startling; its intricacy, use of line, textures, and expression invite viewers to imagine stories about his characters. His use of color, depth, and freedom make each piece completely different from the last but without losing his unmistakable style.
